I liked Bound a lot. Also For Love Or Money, although I’m not sure it counts as overlooked (most of my friends haven’t seen it anyway). My last one would be Sneakers with Robert Redford… maybe it was popular for a bit, but it’s been forgotten and is still fun to watch (modems and all).
Ok – these are a few of my beloved movies of the ’90s that I usually get funny looks from people when I mention (listed alphabetically ’cause that’s how the DVD collection is organized):
– Death Becomes Her (1992): I’m very amused at Bruce Willis doing comedy while balding and fat.
– Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999): Brilliant black comedy that is often overlooked as it’s mistakenly thought of as being another teen comedy.
– Empire Records (1995): Not sure if it’s overlooked as it’s usually labeled as a cult classic; but if it’s cult, it’s a very small cult.
– Iron Giant (1999): Brad Bird’s first full-length feature, where you find yourself completely moved for the plight of the robot.
- Joe’s Apartment (1996): Admittedly not a great movie, but there’s something about the singing cockroaches.
– Quick and the Dead (1995): A great modern western.
– Soapdish (1991): Hilarious spoof on daytime dramas.
I’ve got another one that almost nobody has seen, despite the top-notch cast and superb writing: Noises Off, with Michael Caine, Carol Burnette, Christopher Reeves, Mark Lynn-Baker, John Ritter to name a few. Man what a fun movie. You know it’s overlooked when they haven’t bothered to put it out on DVD.

Agree with J.R. – love Noises Off! (though it is available on DVD: http://www.amazon.com/Noises-Off-Michael-Caine/dp/B0000DZTOM/)
